England v Hungary – no bet
The trick to making money as a punter is knowing when not to bet, it’s the times that you keep your money in your pocket that makes the biggest difference. Not just because of the obvious reason that you avoid a lot of losing bets, but also because it has a positive impact on your logic when you actually do decide to make a bet. At the weekend Gambling Man stayed away from the Charity shield, a televised Wembley show [...]
Despite pre tournament favourites Spain winning the 2010 World Cup it was still a great world cup for the bookies. The tournament started well, England drew two early games which always brings them a good return and Italy and France both made early exits. Surprise losses for Germany and Spain not only produced winning games for the bookies, they confused punters and drew the sting from Spain’s eventual victory.
Once the semi finals had finished I was expecting to see bookies making Spain slight favourites and leaving punter with a difficult choice. However Spain are 1-2 with Bet365 who offer 13/8 that Holland will lift the trophy. That makes the Spanish team a 66% chance to win. Yes, Spain are the best passing team in the tournament but they don’t score many goals. The Dutch are the only unbeaten team in the Tournament, have scored more goals and had [...]
Germany to win in 90 mins at 4/5
I think this young German team will be looking to lay down a further marker that they are a top team as they start the haul towards Euro 2012
I will be having a sizeable bet on Holland to win 1-0 at 5/1 with a saver of Holland to win in 90 minutes at 4/6
Spain have never been as far as the World Cup semi final before and their result against Paraguay means they are drifting in the market and struggling to hold onto their leadership in the outright betting market. They are also due to play perennial over achievers and always risky to underestimate Germans for a place in the final. As I said of the Paraguay team, they can’t score and have drawn most of their games in South Africa, they were [...]
Germany to beat Argentina at 5-2
As two of England’s old football foes prepare to battle out an intriguing quarter final the bookies have Diego Maradonna’s men as 11/8 favourites to progress within 90 mins. However Gamblingman thinks that the Uber efficient German’s look value at 5/2 – OK the Argentineans are unbeaten, the team spirit is a revelation compared with the attitude during qualification and on Paper they have probably the best squad in South Africa with the possible exception of Spain. However, they have [...]
