After 7 games the ratings table is starting to take shape. I always prefer to have a ratings system that reflects recent form and this can be seen with positive ratings compared with league position for Stoke, Blackburn and Everton. Gambling Man had such a bad record predicting Spurs results early in the season that he gave up tipping for or against them. As promised here is the first of Gambling Man’s ratings table. They are up to date after the 6th round of matches and were based on a starting position which reflected last year’s league position and move the rating by taking a percentage of the oppositions start of day rating for the result and the goal supremacy. With 6 games now played in the Premier League most ratings systems will be starting to settle down and reflect the form for the new season and I have decided to publish the rankings and points in my ratings table after every weekend.

Gambling man has made good money this season opposing Aston Villa but for once I intend to go their way. These two midland rivals have both had poor starts to the season but it is interesting to see how this has been reflected in the league table. Villa are the side least deserving of their high league position having been thrashed three weeks ago by a Newcastle team expected to struggle following their promotion from the Championship and I still cant believe they got a result against Everton.
