Henin set for Sharapova challenge
The Belgian holds a 2-1 record over the Russian teenager and beat her in the French Open quarter-finals in 2005.
"It's going to be tough," said Henin-Hardenne. "It's a semi-final in a Grand Slam, it's always difficult."
In the second semi Kim Clijsters will play Amelie Mauresmo, while David Nalbandian faces Marcos Baghdatis in the first men's semi on Thursday night.
Henin-Hardenne, who beat top seed Lindsay Davenport in the quarters, is returning to form after her 2005 season was cut short by a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old has not been beaten at Melbourne Park since 2003, although she was not able to defend her title in 2005 because of a knee problem.
