Hardy looks best in Sunday thriller
No weather problems are reported at Leopardstown where the feature race brings together Brave Inca and reigning Champion Hurdler Hardy Eustace in what is being billed as a match but the presence of last year’s winner Macs Joy and Golden Cross makes it interesting.
Brave Inca beat the enigmatic Harchibald over course and distance over Christmas but preference has to be for HARDY EUSTACE whose reappearance taught us little as he started at 1/8 in a 3 runner event and won as he price indicated. Expect him to win well today as his preparations continue for a crack at a third successive Champion Hurdle at the Festival.

Akilak to bounce back to winning form
Carlisle in particular stage a good card which features the totesport Lanzarote Hurdle – a race transferred from Kempton where they have the builders in.
The race could see the Howard Johnson trained top-weight AKILAK show a return to form. The five-year-old has lost his way a little this season, but takes a welcome drop in class which might see the penny drop. A 50-1 winner at Cheltenham last season and third in the Triumph Hurdle to Penzance – this horse still rates highly amongst the Johnson inmates and takes on much weaker rivals here than of late. A forecast 13/2 in the Racing Post – that would appear to represent very good value indeed.
